Christ is Risen! Truly He is risen!
येसु मसीह ज़िन्दा हो गया है! हाँ यक़ीनन, वोह ज़िन्दा हो गया है! (Hindi)
Yesu Masih zinda ho Gaya Hai! Han yaqeenan, woh zinda ho Gaya hai!
Krista uttitaha! Satvam uttitaha! (Sanskrit)
“It is not good for man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18)
Dear Beloved in Christ,
Humans are communal beings, having been created in the image and likeness of the Triune God, Who dwells in perpetual community. Thus when God created the first person, he gave him another person as a companion.
We are communal by nature, and we come to know ourselves only within the context of community (as sibling, child, spouse, friend, coworker, etc.).
Recently I listened to a thoughtful spiritual talk given by Elder Nikon of Mount Athos, on the topic of loneliness. It seemed very timely, given our circumstances, so I would like to share it with you. It is a YouTube video of his talk, given in Greek, with subtitles in English.
May you be blessed by this!
PS The Paschal greetings above (in Hindi and in Sanskrit) are from India, the native land of a few of our St. John parishioners. India has a 2,000-year history with Christianity, dating to the Apostle Thomas, who first brought the Good News to the Indian people. Today there are still Orthodox Christian churches in India, and a minority population of Christians. (The majority of India is Hindu.) The national language, along with English, is Hindi, and the ancient language is Sanskrit.
