The Greek Orthodox Youth of America (GOYA) is part of the broader Youth, Young Adult, and Family Ministry in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, dedicated to serving teenagers in junior high and high school, specifically those in 7th through 12th grades. In some communities, 6th graders, who may be grouped with junior high students, are also included. GOYA’s mission is to strengthen the spiritual bond of Orthodox Christian youth with Jesus Christ, known in Greek as the Φιλάνθρωπος, or “friend of humankind.”
This ministry focuses on fostering a deeper understanding of God as the Holy Trinity, the role of St. Mary, the Mother of God, and the lives of Saints and Angels, while guiding young people to engage with the world as active members of Christ’s Body, the Church. GOYA is not an endpoint; rather, it supports a lifelong journey that begins with Baptism, grows through participation in the Sacraments, and extends into eternity in Christ.
GOYA (9-12)
Our high school youth group meets once a month at families’ homes to have dinner, discussion, and fun activities. In Fall 2024, we will also have a two-night retreat in Cannon Beach and a one night Monastery trip (see schedule below).

Jr GOYA (6-8)
Our middle school youth group meets monthly at families’ homes for dinner, a discussion, and fun activities. We also engage in service projects throughout the year, such as cooking for Family Promise.
